100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 60

Objects in my apt making interesting shadows on the wall. Trying to put this up early, so I can head to bed early. My body feels like it is fighting something and I think sleep might be the cure ...

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 54

My neighbor down the hall always has elaborate decorations on their door. They seem to change them around the season changes and big holidays. They also always end up in the top 3 of the door decorating events. This is the new design that recently went up.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 52

General Grant National Memorial, or just Grant's Tomb to those who live in NYC (and know about it). This is the final resting place of the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. His wife is also buried in this tomb. Does that name sound familiar? It should. His face is on the 50 dollar bill.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 51

I learned a lot about light over the last 51 days. For example, color can really fool you into thinking something is lighter or darker than it really is. The petals of the flower in the photo have blue tips. I thought because the inner part was white and the outer was blue, it would have a lot of contrast. When I converted the photo to B&W, the blue was only slightly darker than the white section, which was disappointing.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 50

Day 50! Half way there. Half of me can't wait to get my nights back, and the other half is already thinking of other photo projects to do to fill the void. @_@

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 46

Another photo of The Riverside Church in Manhattan taken April 2013. Below you can see a close up photo of the embedded statues that I actually managed to upload to flickr ... last Autumn.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 45

I remember taking this photo with my phone because my camera had died. I was on the hunt to see the Sakura trees blossom at Sakura Park in Manhattan, when I stumbled across this huge church. I took this photo in early April 2013, which was too early for Sakura trees to blossom in NYC. I did end up seeing them the next year before I left NYC, but it wasn't as great as everyone leads it to be ...

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 38

I'm still learning and understanding, but I feel like nature photos are a bit too busy to be in black and white, well most of  them. I know Ansel Adams made a whole career off of black and white nature photos, but from what I've seen, most of his photos were of wide angle landscapes.

The above is a water feature in the (Seattle) Japanese Garden taken last year spring.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 37

Remember yesterday how I said one of the rolls of film was blank? Actually it wasn't. When I checked the roll of film next to a lamp, I saw that it had images on it. This mean the photos were overexposed or I pushed the film while developing it, or both.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 35

I invited my coworker to lunch twice this week and twice she ended up bailing out. Finally today we went for lunch together. We are still exploring our new area. We seem to be walking distance from almost everything. Today, or more like this week, I realized that the business/downtown area of Seattle is tiny (compared to Manhattan).

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 34

I was trying to be artsy or symbolic maybe ...? meh. I was eating lunch and I noticed the design of the can. I thought the skyline would match the words. This might have been the first time I drank sprite or any soda in months. Sprite is usually my soda of choice.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 32

This photo is from last year March when I first came to Seattle on vacation. This is a photo of Elliot Bay, which is apart of Puget Sound. I believe the mountains in the distance are part of olympic mountain peaks.
