100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 65

I spent the night using my step up ring, 10+ diopter macro filter, and my mirrorless camera "scanning" film negatives. I did this all while trying to finally watch videos on my youtube watch later list (I had 100+ videos). Because of all of this, I almost forgot to post my photo for the day and it is almost 2 AM.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 52

General Grant National Memorial, or just Grant's Tomb to those who live in NYC (and know about it). This is the final resting place of the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. His wife is also buried in this tomb. Does that name sound familiar? It should. His face is on the 50 dollar bill.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 45

I remember taking this photo with my phone because my camera had died. I was on the hunt to see the Sakura trees blossom at Sakura Park in Manhattan, when I stumbled across this huge church. I took this photo in early April 2013, which was too early for Sakura trees to blossom in NYC. I did end up seeing them the next year before I left NYC, but it wasn't as great as everyone leads it to be ...

Super Bowl Boulevard 2014

Editing video seems to take me twice as long to upload than editing a photo. I've been meaning to edit and upload this for a while. I finally had time to finish this video.

Super Bowl Boulevard 2014 from Ulina on Vimeo.

It was kind of cool to finally have the Super Bowl in my hometown and the same city where I am living. Too bad it wasn't for the Jets or Giants, but I was rooting for Seattle and I was super glad they won. At first I thought I would be annoyed with the amount of tourist and people everywhere, but instead I was just amazed at how much time and effort went into shutting down streets and setting up events for people to enjoy.

Summer Fridays: 8-17-13

(text from the description on Vimeo)

This is a video I made one afternoon on a Summer Friday*.

Do you see the guy in the first clip sitting on the bench to the left? He is old school. What I mean by old school is that he had a pile of sheet music with lyrics, a walkman and a stack of tapes. Yes i said a walkman and tapes. He was listening and singing the music out loud.

At first I thought about moving but then I thought it was actually refreshing. Plus I didn't want him to feel alienated as if he was doing something wrong or weird. He was listening to songs from the 50's or 60's. One of the songs he sang was a song from the Movie Dirty Dancing. He sang another song that sounded like the Food Emporium song.

*Summer Friday is when a company gives their employees a half day or the whole day off on Fridays during the summer. The employees usually have to make up the hours during the earlier part of the week.
