I'm still learning and understanding, but I feel like nature photos are a bit too busy to be in black and white, well most of  them. I know Ansel Adams made a whole career off of black and white nature photos, but from what I've seen, most of his photos were of wide angle landscapes.

The above is a water feature in the (Seattle) Japanese Garden taken last year spring.

Remember yesterday how I said one of the rolls of film was blank? Actually it wasn't. When I checked the roll of film next to a lamp, I saw that it had images on it. This mean the photos were overexposed or I pushed the film while developing it, or both.

I invited my coworker to lunch twice this week and twice she ended up bailing out. Finally today we went for lunch together. We are still exploring our new area. We seem to be walking distance from almost everything. Today, or more like this week, I realized that the business/downtown area of Seattle is tiny (compared to Manhattan).

I was trying to be artsy or symbolic maybe ...? meh. I was eating lunch and I noticed the design of the can. I thought the skyline would match the words. This might have been the first time I drank sprite or any soda in months. Sprite is usually my soda of choice.

This is an old photo. I took this last Spring when I first visited Seattle. This photo was taken in the Japanese Garden. I finally uploaded the color version to flickr (embedded below) so I wanted to see what it would look like as a black and white photo.

So tired lately for some reason, but I forced myself to go for a walk after work. I managed to get to the top of this park to take this photo. I see  I see I have more lens flare. I think I might be channeling J. J. Abrams when I take these landscape photos.

Hyperlaspe to Kerry Park

The walk up to Kerry Park is a steep one. Regardless of which way you go, you will burn calories. I decided to use the fairly new iOS app Hyperlapse to film the trip.

Hyperlapse states that their algorithm will fix shaky video, but apparently they didn't prepare for someone like me. I wasn't aware that I bounced that much when I walk.

In this video, I went the long scenic way up to Kerry Park. The first time I went to Kerry Park, I went the short steep way that had me cursing myself for even wanting to go up there. I had just visited the Space Needle and bought a painting for my dad and his wife. I wanted to go to the same spot as the painting so I could take a photo. Unfortunately that day the mountain was not out. So I continued to believe that the photos I saw of Mount Rainer looking huge behind the city was mythology.

Since the city I grew up in was fairly flat, I was upset that Seattle was built on such steep hills @_@. There are hills in The Bronx, but they taper off after a short while and they are not as steep as Seattle. If they are steep, there are steps to go up, but even so, they are still not as steep as the hills (mountains) in Seattle. Getting to Kerry Park feels like a big accomplishment.
