100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 30

This is an old photo. I took this last Spring when I first visited Seattle. This photo was taken in the Japanese Garden. I finally uploaded the color version to flickr (embedded below) so I wanted to see what it would look like as a black and white photo.

I took this shot with my Nikon P7700. I haven't used this camera in a while, so I was relearning most of its features. I shot this in manual mode with manual focus. I didn't even know this camera could do manual focus. I changed the color mode to Monochrome with a light application of cyanotype and extra contrast.

This was a long exposure photo. ISO 400, 2 seconds at f5 taken with my Lumix GF2. I had a diffuser off to the right and I used a Diana Flash with a blue filter gel for lighting.

I'm not even sure I like this photo. I've wanted to shoot the freight trains that pass by this area for a while, but I couldn't really find the shot I wanted.
