100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 52
General Grant National Memorial, or just Grant's Tomb to those who live in NYC (and know about it). This is the final resting place of the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. His wife is also buried in this tomb. Does that name sound familiar? It should. His face is on the 50 dollar bill.
100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 51
I learned a lot about light over the last 51 days. For example, color can really fool you into thinking something is lighter or darker than it really is. The petals of the flower in the photo have blue tips. I thought because the inner part was white and the outer was blue, it would have a lot of contrast. When I converted the photo to B&W, the blue was only slightly darker than the white section, which was disappointing.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 45
I remember taking this photo with my phone because my camera had died. I was on the hunt to see the Sakura trees blossom at Sakura Park in Manhattan, when I stumbled across this huge church. I took this photo in early April 2013, which was too early for Sakura trees to blossom in NYC. I did end up seeing them the next year before I left NYC, but it wasn't as great as everyone leads it to be ...

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 41
Did you know that the city of Seattle is named after a native american chief? His name was Chief Si'ahl.
100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 40
Day 40. 60 more days to go @_@. I've been researching and testing out best ways to digitize film that I was behind on another project I was doing with a friend. Sorry Jen!

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 38
I'm still learning and understanding, but I feel like nature photos are a bit too busy to be in black and white, well most of them. I know Ansel Adams made a whole career off of black and white nature photos, but from what I've seen, most of his photos were of wide angle landscapes.
The above is a water feature in the (Seattle) Japanese Garden taken last year spring.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 35
I invited my coworker to lunch twice this week and twice she ended up bailing out. Finally today we went for lunch together. We are still exploring our new area. We seem to be walking distance from almost everything. Today, or more like this week, I realized that the business/downtown area of Seattle is tiny (compared to Manhattan).
