While You Were Away ...

Actually, while I was away. I didn't realize that it has been almost a month since my last post. Twitter has a feature that when you log back in, there is a banner that states "while you were away". It freezes time and shows you the tweets you missed while you were gone. I always click the close button and when the popup ask if I want this feature, I click no, but it keeps coming back. I noticed lately that tumblr has a similar feature. I wish they both has some indicator to let me know I already saw a post.

Is There a Such Thing as Having Too Much Film?

The top shelf in my fridge is now completely filled with film. I didn't need more, but the Lomograpy store was having a sale. If you spent more than $99 on film, they gave you a free camera. If you bought 120 film, they sent you a free Diana F+ camera.

I've always wanted a Diana camera, but I just didn't want to spend so much on a plastic camera with a plastic lens. So back then, I bought the Diana mini camera which is a 35 mm camera, a bit smaller and cheaper. Fast forward about 6 years and now I finally have the Diana camera for free. Sometimes you do get the things you want, but not at the same time you wanted it.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Epilogue

When I first started this project, I intended to take a photo everyday. Previously, I tried to do the 52 weeks and 365 days projects and just couldn't do it. After I did my 30 days book challenge earlier this year, I thought I was ready for the next step up.

New Project: Slice of Nature

I take a lot of photos and barely ever post them. The 100 days of black and white photos project helped me to rediscover a whole bunch of photos I forgot I had. What is even worse, is that I shoot a lot of videos and barely even post those either.  These days there are so many places where you can post videos, but I have a hard time figuring out what content should go on which site.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 82

I hope bugs don't creep you out. I was talking to my coworker about the window cleaner that has been cleaning the windows of the building across the way from us for the last couple of days. A huge bug landed on the window. While I ran to go get my phone and macro lens, two of my coworkers were debating about whether or not the bug had wings and how did it get up so high without wings.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 80

My coworker who is about 6'3" or 6'4" is deathly afraid of heights. I know his height shouldn't matter, but it is an amusing fact. Whenever he sees window washers like the guy in the photo, he gets scared for them.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 78

This photo represents me getting back into shooting film. It also represents the first time I developed film by myself, it represents the first time I developed color film, and it is also the first time I cross-processed slide film. Last but not least, it represents the patience needed when loading film onto the spool to be developed.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 76

I added a bonus photo. I didn't make it the main photo because the quality isn't great. I took it with my phone, it was shot through a window that had lots of glare and I had to use the digital zoom to get the subject in the photo.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 73

I can agree with this statement. At least that is how I felt today. Today is Columbus day and my job is one of the few places that seems to still want to ignore the type of person Columbus was and still give this day off as a holiday. Since Monday is a day I usually have to wake up early and leave the apt, I decided to go visit Carkeek Park. I have been wanting to visit it for close to a year.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 72

I tried to connect my old monitor to this netbook, but the screen shows up sideways. So that was a fail. I think it is time to let the monitor go too. I've had that for ... I'm not even sure, but I've had it since my first apt. So maybe close to 8 years.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 71

I had trouble trying to figure out how to crop this photo. Cropping it in different ways makes the photo tell different stories. The photo isn't that great, but it has meaning to me. It currently represents progress and over coming obstacles.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 69

Do you see that American flag? Well on Tuesday it was flying at half-staff. I noticed it and wondered why. None of the other flags in the area that could be seen were at half-staff. Five minutes after I noticed, my coworker asked out loud why the flag was at half-staff. He didn't even noticed that I had just gotten up to check for the same thing.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 67

Last Wednesday the furniture for the waiting area at the front of the office was delivered. The delivery was after 6 PM. Me and two other coworkers were there late to receive them. Boy were we shocked when we saw the furniture. You can't tell from the black and white photos so I posted bonus color photos below.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 65

I spent the night using my step up ring, 10+ diopter macro filter, and my mirrorless camera "scanning" film negatives. I did this all while trying to finally watch videos on my youtube watch later list (I had 100+ videos). Because of all of this, I almost forgot to post my photo for the day and it is almost 2 AM.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 64

I call this: Conquering Mount Lazy.

I was suppose to head to a park today and take photos, but when I woke, up my body and mind had other plans. By the time I was fully awake and functional, it was close to 2 PM.  I managed to get this shot during parts of the times this morning I was awake and conscious.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 63

If you didn't know, I like owls.

This is the longest streak I've had with an incremental project ever and it is killing me. I'm running out of ideas and of photos (past or present) to post. Photography is a creative outlet and stress reliever for me, but the pressure of posting everyday doesn't help. There are several times I just wanted to go to bed early, but I couldn't because I hadn't posted my photo yet.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 62

I use to hang out in Riverside Park South and River Side Park after work and on the weekends. The parks start at 60th street and go all the way up to 129th street on the westside of Manhattan.  If I remember correctly these building are one of Trump's many luxury residential buildings.

100 Days of Black and White Photos: Day 60

Objects in my apt making interesting shadows on the wall. Trying to put this up early, so I can head to bed early. My body feels like it is fighting something and I think sleep might be the cure ...
*whispers: Just 40 more days to go ...*
